EFA is strengthening its focus on data collection, data management, and data governance, recognising them as essential strategic and operational priorities for the years ahead. As festivals face increasing demands for evidence-based decision-making, audience insights, impact measurement, advocacy, sustainability reporting, and digital transformation, the need for reliable and comparable data has become more important than ever.

Building on the knowledge and experience gained through initiatives across Europe, including the Horizon Europe-funded EXCENTRIC project, EFA aims to support festivals in developing stronger data practices and a shared understanding of the value of data. By facilitating knowledge exchange, providing practical guidance, and fostering collaboration between festivals and sector partners, EFA seeks to help the sector address current and emerging challenges related to data collection and management.

A key ambition is to work towards more consistent and comparable approaches to collecting data about festivals and for festivals. Through common methodologies, shared standards, and peer learning, EFA aims to strengthen the sector’s capacity to generate meaningful insights, demonstrate its cultural, social, and economic impact, and make better-informed strategic decisions at both local and European levels. This will contribute to building a stronger evidence base for the festival sector and support its long-term resilience, visibility, and development.

More info on the programme and speakers will be published soon.
