Tamara Schmidt

Tamara Schmidt is a German neurologist and psychiatrist. After completing her medical studies at the Free University of Berlin, she specialised in neurology, psychiatry, and psychotherapy through residencies at the Charité University of Berlin and Vivantes Neukölln.  

Since 2007, she has been working as a consultant at the Movement Disorders Hospital in Beelitz-Heilstätten, where she specialises in the clinical practice and research of functional movement disorders.  

In her daily work with patients, she focuses on helping individuals move beyond a performance-oriented mindset that often emphasises deficits associated with their condition. By integrating creativity into therapeutic practice, she encourages shifts in perspective, fosters self-efficacy, and strengthens patients’ sense of belonging within society.
