Tuesday, 29 April 2025 - The EFFEA Stage: emerging artists at the core of festival making - Arts Festivals Summit 2025

Sarah Richardson is an award-winning playwright, actor and spoken word poet.

Her debut play, GirlPlay, was staged at Dublin Fringe 2019; a subsequent international digital tour included winning Best Digital Experience at Stockholm Fringe 2020-21. GirlPlay headlined the SpaceUK for Edinburgh Fringe in 2022, where it was selected for Mervyn Stutter's Pick of the Fringe in Edinburgh 2022.  GirlPlay is published by Samuel French, Concord Theatricals.

In 2023, Sarah was supported by the European Festival Fund for Emerging Artists - EFFEA to develop her one woman show Sun Bear. Presented at Gothenburg Fringe, the production was named “Simply The Best” and was nominated for “Gest Best in Fest”, “Hot Potato” and “Mind Blown” awards.  Sun Bear went on to make its UK premiere at the Park Theatre in April 2024, where it was nominated for an Off West End Award for Best Solo Performance.

Sarah’s latest play Daisy Chains won the runner up prize in the Platform Presents Playwright’s Prize 2023. Having received the DYCP grant from the Arts Council, Sarah continued the development of Daisy Chains in 2024, produced by The Production Exchange.
