Nicolas Bertrand

Nicolas Bertrand is a manager and freelance consultant who supports artists and cultural institutions in the design and implementation of international cultural projects.
After creating a theatre festival for young audiences in the North-East of France and coordinating the implementation of residencies for visual artists in rural areas, he directed the Image Aiguë theatre company with artist Christiane Véricel from 2001 to 2018, whose shows have been presented in more than 40 countries. In particular, he been in charge of productions, tours and cooperations in Europe, as well as projects in Georgia, Morocco and China.
Since 2018, he has developed a consultancy and support activity for cooperation projects funded by the European Union in the fields of early music (EEEMERGING project for the Ambronay Festival), contemporary music, performing arts and heritage, as well as for local authorities - including the European Network of Royal Residences, Cie Maqamat - Omar Rajeh and Mia Habis (dance), Institut des croisements - Arkadi Zaides (dance, performance), Centre Internacional de Música Antiga - Jordi Savall (music), Mozarteum (music), Clermont Ferrand and Bourges - candidate cities for the title of European Capital of Culture.
Nicolas is also active in the programming of professional events and workshops, in particular with the IETM - Contemporary performing arts network, the European Festivals Association, REMA - Early music network... He is a long-standing member of the A Soul for Europe strategy group and contributes to the curation of the Berlin conferences and organised forums in Lyon, Prague and Stockholm.
