Tradition and international recognition
The competition structure follows the standards of the World Federation of International Music Competitions and places the works of George Enescu at the heart of the required repertoire, alongside major pillars of the classical canon.
First held in 1958, the George Enescu International Competition has launched numerous international careers and continues to promote Enescu’s legacy among new generations of artists. Since 2014, it has been organised as a separate biennial event, alternating with the Festival.
The 20th anniversary edition consolidates the competition’s position among the elite of world music competitions and reaffirms its essential role in discovering and nurturing future artistic leaders.
