10th Winter Festival by Festival Ljubljana

From symphonic masterpieces and iconic film scores to intimate piano recitals and opera, the 10th Winter Festival by Festival Ljubljana promises six evenings of exceptional musical performances in Slovenia's capital.

12 October 2026

From 10 to 15 February 2027, Festival Ljubljana will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its Winter Festival, bringing together internationally renowned orchestras, conductors and soloists for a programme spanning classical masterpieces, film music and opera.

The jubilee edition will open with the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Alfonso Scarano and joined by Turkish cellist Poyraz Baltacıgil. The programme will feature works by Beethoven, Mussorgsky and Turkish composer Ulvi Cemal Erkin.
For its second performance, the orchestra will turn to some of cinema's most memorable soundtracks, featuring music from Star Wars, Harry Potter, Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean and other film classics.
The festival will also offer more intimate musical experiences, including a recital by pianist Vladimir Mogilevsky, exploring Russian Romanticism through works by Rachmaninov, Scriabin, Tchaikovsky and other composers.
Opera will take centre stage with a concert performance of Alban Berg's Wozzeck, conducted by the internationally acclaimed Charles Dutoit, alongside the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir and the RTV Slovenia Children's Choir.
The final two evenings will celebrate the works of Ludwig van Beethoven, with Ensemble Dissonance performing a programme entitled Moonlight, before the festival concludes with Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 1 and Beethoven's oratorio Christ on the Mount of Olives.
