ReMusica Festival is an annual international music festival and a key cultural event in Kosovo, focusing on both music and education. Its primary objective is to promote contemporary music and innovative performances, including pieces of 20th-century, classical, early music, and acousmatic music concerts, featuring world-class and local artists.
Founded in the spring of 2002, the festival started as an activity of the “Center for New Music,” an institution formed with support from Vanessa Redgrave and Philip Glass after the Kosovo war. ReMusica aims to celebrate classical composers and introduce contemporary music, providing a platform for today's composers in its programmes.
Over the years, ReMusica has expanded its cultural activities to include programs like the ReMusica Junior programme for children, ReNew programmefor new talents, panel discussions on important topics. It also offers platforms for artist collaboration, music education, masterclasses, and workshops.
The festival has a comprehensive archive of Albanian composers' works, preserving Kosovan compositions. It holds the largest collection of local composers' audio recordings from the past twenty years. In 2023, ReMusica Festival established its ReVocal Ensemble, participating in various performances in Kosovo and beyond.
