One of the most distinguished and prestigious musical events in Europe
Wratislavia Cantans, established in 1966 by the Polish conductor Andrzej Markowski, is one of the most distinguished and prestigious musical events in Europe. Its programme presents the greatest vocal and vocal-instrumental pieces in the history of music in venues that include the historic churches and halls of Wrocław and the Lower Silesia region. The festival hosts world-famous ensembles, conductors and soloists and has been under the artistic direction of Giovanni Antonini since 2013. So far Wratislavia Cantans has invited superb soloists and conductors, and among them: Philippe Jaroussky, Jordi Savall, Philippe Herreweghe, Andreas Scholl, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Paul McCreesh, Ton Koopman, Gustav Leonhardt, Ottavio Dantone and numerous ensembles, including: Kammerorchester Basel, Collegium Vocale Gent, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Gabrieli Consort & Players, Il Giardino Armonico, The English Baroque Soloists, Accademia Bizantina, Monteverdi Choir.
