DokuFest, Kosovo’s most significant festival for short films and documentaries, celebrated for its global reach, vibrant cultural programmes, and its role in connecting Kosovo to the international film community.
DokuFest, the largest and most renowned short film and documentary festival in Kosovo, was established in 2002 with the aim of revitalising cinema and enhancing the cultural scene in Prizren. Over the years, it has become an important event, attracting filmmakers, artists, and audiences from all over the world.
Each August, DokuFest transforms the historic city of Prizren into a vibrant centre of creativity, featuring over 200 carefully selected films shown in cinemas and outdoor venues. Since 2019, it has been recognised as a BAFTA-qualifying festival for short films, and since 2022, it has also been a festival that nominates films for the European Film Academy Awards, connecting Kosovo to the global film industry while highlighting regional talent.
In addition to film screenings, the festival offers a diverse programme that includes documentary photography exhibitions, engaging discussions, practical workshops, and live music performances. With thousands of visitors attending each year, DokuFest is a lively celebration of storytelling, cultural exchange, and cinematic creativity.
