Matina Magkou

Dr. Matina Magkou is a researcher, lecturer and consultant in cultural and creative industries, cultural policies and international cultural cooperation. She holds a PhD in Leisure, Communication and Culture (University of Deusto) and is currently a post-doc researcher at the University Côte d’Azur.
She has worked for festivals, theatre productions and large-scale events such as the Olympic Games Athens 2004, the European Capital of Culture Patras 2006 and the International Expo Zaragoza 2008, but also the Athens and Epidaurus festival and the Doha Film Festival. She has also worked for public institutions such as the European Parliament, the Greek Ministry of Education and the Municipality of Athens.
She often collaborates with cultural networks and organisations on evaluation (eg. Keychange, MUSICAIRE) and research projects (eg. fair cultural relations for EUNIC, audience development for IN SITU, fair working conditions for CIRCOSTRADA, Labour needs for performing arts professionals for PEARLE*, risk-assessment for the social partners in live performance sector).
She currently serves at ENCATC’s Board and is co-founder of KOΛΕΚΤΙVA for culture and social innovation. Her work has been published at the International Journal of Cultural Policy/ City, Culture and Society/ Gender, Work and Organization, among others.
