Berlin Conference 2026 "Europe: The Art of Belonging"
Under the title “Europe: The Art of Belonging”, the conference will address central questions for the future of Europe: What holds our societies together beyond institutions and treaties? In times of growing polarisation, social alienation and democratic uncertainty, the sense of belonging comes into focus: Who feels heard and able to participate? How can a shared European “we” emerge? And how can arts and culture contribute to this? The conference will focus on cities, municipalities, civil society, arts and culture as spaces where Europe becomes tangible: in everyday life, in exchange, in conflict, in solidarity and in collective action.
Organised by Stiftung Zukunft Berlin in cooperation with the civil society initiative A Soul for Europe, the European Festivals Association (EFA), the Evangelische Akademie zu Berlin, and Yuste Foundation, the Berlin Conference brings together voices, perspectives, and networks from across Europe to help shape a common democratic future.
The programme will include workshops, participatory formats, exchange and opportunities for active involvement. The Berlin Conference 2026 understands itself not only as a place for debate, but as a space in which belonging is practiced and shaped together.
The Berlin Conference 2026 will take place on 5 and 6 November in the Allianz Forum, located next to the Brandenburg Gate – a symbolic setting for European dialogue.
