Cultural Rights & Artistic Freedom: Partnerships in 2025
- The Performing Arts Coalition (PAC): In response to the European Commission’s call for collective action in the Cultural and Creative Sectors, EFA has joined forces with IETM, EDN, Circostrada, and ASSITEJ to launch PAC, a cross-border initiative already in action.
In 2025, the coalition undertook a joint consultation process to gather insights into the current state of citizens’ rights to engage with the performing arts on their own terms — both as creators and as participants. The survey, titled “The Right To Engage With The Performing Arts In Today’s Europe & Beyond”, was open from March to April 2025.
Through this initiative, PAC aims to understand both positive developments and ongoing challenges in policy and legislation affecting this right. The goal is to highlight key issues and gaps, as well as to propose policy solutions at both EU and national levels.
- Pearle*: EFA’s Alliance communities and Pearle* members will have capacity-building and debate opportunities, allowing for the collection of insights for a new addition to “The Ultimate Cookbook for Cultural Manager” series on “Ethics and freedom of speech, and Artistic Freedom” (to be published in 2025).
- Yourope: Building on the success of the European Year of Youth and the joint campaign “Impossible without Youth,” launched by Yourope and EFA in 2022, EFA will continue to collaborate with Yourope in 2025. The campaign will be expanded to further include the perspectives and involvement of youth voices - artists, festival staff, or audiences.
