Culture and creative sector policy expert 

Cristina Farinha, 1973, PhD, is currently a freelance expert on policy research, evaluation, cooperation and development, specialised in culture, heritage and the creative economy.  She is also associated researcher at the Sociology Institute University Porto, Portugal. 

She has worked extensively from local and regional to international level in the conception, implementation, reporting and evaluation of diverse policies, programmes and organisations.  

She has vast experience in project and programme´s evaluation from different perspectives, in Europe and Africa, including assessment of proposals for Creative Europe, H2020/Horizon Europe, Erasmus+ and Urban Innovation Actions as well as mid-term and ex-post evaluation of, respectively, Creative Europe, Culture, Media and Media Mundus 2007-2013, European Capital of Culture and EU pilots projects such as Archipel.eu, MUSICAire, and PROCULTURA. 

Cristina has also been lecturing and participating as speaker and moderator in various universities, public discussions, academic conferences and workshops across Europe, USA, Africa and Middle East. She is interested in capacity building and knowledge dissemination; the strengthening of the role of culture and creativity in governance and development and the promotion of fair and sustainable mobility and international cooperation. 

She has acted as the Executive Director of ADDICT - Creative Industries Portugal between 2012 - 2016. She studied labour law, social and working conditions of performing artists and the conditions for mobility in the arts and culture in Europe back in early 2000s; and since then has been collaborating with diverse European cultural networks, like On The Move, IETM, European Festivals Association, to support artists and cultural operators international cooperation and mobility.
